How much tax does an Uber driver pay in the UK?
Uber drivers in the UK are self-employed and pay income tax on their net profit (fares minus allowable expenses). For 2025/26, the first £12,570 is tax-free. Profits between £12,571 and £50,270 are taxed at 20%, and above that at 40%. You also pay Class 4 NI at 6% on profits between £12,571 and £50,270. Deductible expenses include mileage (45p/mile for the first 10,000 miles), phone costs, vehicle cleaning, and your private hire licence.
